Freelance Royalty Scheme Scratch Night

Freelance Royalty Scheme Scratch Night

Join us for an evening of work-in-progress pieces, shared by members of our Freelance Royalty Scheme, and hosted by Martin Willis. This is a great opportunity to support new work from artists as well as meet other Freelance Royalty members!

Tessy Idio - Awakening to Adversity
A spoken word piece portraying a young Black female emerging artist striving to make it in London. She overcomes rejection from others and self-doubt by taking risks and restoring her confidence through self-belief.

Amal Khalidi - One of the Boys
A10. LONDON. VAUXHALL CORSA. Cruising down the A10 in Hamza’s car, Ibby, Ahmed and Hamza are heading to meet their new baby sister Chama. Dad’s on his way back to London tomorrow and Mum needs to be picked up from the hospital and the boys say that they are on it but come into some trouble in between their journey. Ibby is stuck in the whimsical danger they whip up, all the while rearing towards the dreaded moment of meeting her sister, afraid of becoming just another one of the boys.

Theo Hristov - Working Class Hero
Working Class Hero is a satire about the intersection of class and accent in the UK. It aims to challenge class and accent stereotypes and the ways the UK film, TV, and theatre industry treats and commodifies class and class belonging.
