BEAM2018 is a two-day industry showcase of over 50 new British musicals, identifying and supporting diverse new work to reach those with an interest in developing or staging it.
BEAM will take place 10-6pm on Thu 1 and Fri 2 Mar 2018 – your ticket will be valid for BOTH days and include lunch and refreshments.
BEAM is co-produced by Musical Theatre Network and Mercury Musical Developments, in association with Theatre Royal Stratford East. Join the conversation: #BEAM2018

BEAM is:
- A biennial industry showcase of new British musical theatre.
- The most extensive overview of the new writing landscape of British musicals, with presentations of/excerpts from over 50 new works, by their writers or producers, selected from various pitching days held around the UK.
- Intended to efficiently give access to the most exciting writers of, and ideas for, new British musicals – particularly for those venues and producers with resources to develop new musicals.
- A marketplace and networking opportunity for those wanting to develop, produce, or support brilliant new British musical theatre.
Those who attended BEAM2016 likened it to a “Woodstock moment” for new British musicals, as there was such a buzz generated around the quality and diversity of talent showcased. Producers praised how easy it made finding and getting involved with exciting projects at an early stage of development. Those presenting work praised the non-competitive, supportive environment where they could present alongside peers, and move forward with a renewed sense of community and pride in the new writing sector of British musicals. The event trended on Twitter for three days, and over 60% of the new musicals showcased went on to be produced or further developed, mostly with support found at BEAM. Whether you’re a writer, producer or supporter of new British musical theatre, we hope you’ll want to be part of BEAM2018 here at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 1 & 2 Mar 2018.
BEAM is supported with public funding from Arts Council England, and also by a grant from PRS for Music Foundation.
BEAM will take place 10-6pm on Thu 1 and Fri 2 March 2018 – your ticket will be valid for BOTH days and include lunch and refreshments.
ALL TICKETS PURCHASED ARE VALID FOR BOTH THU 1 AND FRI 2 MAR.
