RAPUNZEL BEST SELLING SHOW IN THE THEATRE’S HISTORY
Theatre Royal Stratford East’s production of Rapunzel, directed by Associate Director Pooja Ghai, has broken all box office records with the highest income and attendance for any show in the theatre’s history overtaking the previous record-holder - 2016’s Sinbad the Sailor. Over 25,000 people have already booked tickets to see Rapunzel this year and over 40% of those were first time visitors. In addition, 4,110 local school children attended as part of Newham’s Every Child A Theatre Goer scheme.
Artistic Director of Theatre Royal Stratford East, Nadia Fall, said today ‘We’re thrilled that people from all over London return to see our pantos year after year, and that Rapunzel is the best-selling show in our 133-year history. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope to see you back here next year for Sleeping Beauty!’
With a tradition of featuring original music, laugh-out-loud comedy and hilarious audience participation, Theatre Royal Stratford East’s 2017 pantomime Rapunzel runs until 13 January 2018. Let your hair down with the feisty Rapunzel and friends in a magical re-imagining of this much-loved tale.
Pooja Ghai directs Raj Bajaj (Papa bear/Iggy), Michael Bertenshaw (Witch Maddy), Stephen Hoo (Toby/Albert Mouse), Juliet Okotie (Mama bear/Lizzy), Gemma Salter (Baby Bear), Joanne Sandi (Rapunzel), Gary Wood (Egor/Grace) and Julie Yammanee (Goldilocks).
