Theatre Royal Stratford East is delighted to announce further details for their new Caribbean food offering in the Stratford East Bar: Island Vibez Kitchen Stratford. Serving Trinidadian fusion food in East London and beyond, Island Vibez Kitchen will serve healthy, home-cooked fusion food that’s full of flavour with only good vibez!
Since founding IVK in 2015 Pravie Maharaj has catered events such as Wing Jam, Grill Jam and Notting Hill Carnival, and he will run their first fixed home at Stratford East with IVK Director Graeme Bright. They are thrilled to bring their delicious food to Stratford and to grow their popular, environmentally friendly and socially conscious brand. They use fully recyclable, reusable and compostable materials and will work with various charitable organisations on staffing, workshops and outreach events.
Island Vibez Kitchen Stratford’s menu will offer a large selection of main dishes infused with their own in-house seasonings and will also be offering a variety of Trinidadian patties. Trinidadian street food will be a staple on the menu alongside daily specials and handmade burgers, as well as a wide selection of both vegan and vegetarian meals, and all meat will be Halal.
The bar will also continue offering an array of popular free entertainment, including DJ sets and monthly Sunday music events.
Pravie Maharaj said:
“We aim to make Island Vibez Kitchen Stratford – which happens to be on an island in the centre of Stratford – the main destination in the area for great food and good vibez for all.
Since I arrived in England in 2006, there has been an explosion of chicken shop food, but IVK aspires to bring healthy home cooked food as a better alternative. IVK came from my desire to represent all the Caribbean Islands, unlike a typical Caribbean restaurant that just predominantly represents Jamaican food. Trinidad and Tobago cuisine reflects a fusion of African, Creole, Indian-South Asian, Chinese, Amerindian, Arab, European, and Latin American-Spanish-Portuguese cuisines.
We also work with communities in London bringing IVK to people’s doors, and over the Christmas period we worked with charitable organisations to provide lunch for the elderly, and an interactive cooking workshop which resulted in dinner for the residents.
On 02 Feb 2020 we will be bringing some amazing rhythm and good vibez with Soca Sunday with a guest artist, live band and DJ. Other events will be announced and all of them will be free, making Stratford East the only place to be.”
The Stratford East Bar will temporarily close from 12-22 Jan, reopening on 23 Jan 2020. Island Vibez Kitchen Stratford will start serving from Wed 29 Jan 2020, with a special launch event on Sun 02 Feb 2020. More about IVKS here. The free bar events will contnue from Feb 2020.
