Theatre Royal Stratford East is delighted to confirm that we have received a grant from the Cultural Recovery Fund. With thanks to the DCMS, this fund is a life-line and ensures we can move forward with confidence to March 2021. The fund enables us to continue to make theatre in a covid secure way, to provide opportunities for freelancers, to continue our work with young people and the community, and to reach out to our audiences.
We will continue to campaign for funding for the arts, knowing that to truly move forward and thrive, support will be required beyond March 2021. We extend huge thanks to our Board and our staff who have worked so hard during the first seven months of the pandemic, and we know will continue to do so. We are also grateful to our key stakeholders, Arts Council England and the London Borough of Newham, as well as all our supporters and our audiences, for their ongoing support and belief in us. Stratford East has weathered many storms, and, with the support of the Cultural Recovery Fund, we are confident that we will weather this one.
Nadia Fall, Artistic Director and CEO says: "It is with great relief that we received the good news that we have been successful in our emergency grant application. We can now truly roll up our sleeves with confidence and do what it is we do best- making theatre and connecting with our community and audiences. We know that in these uncertain times people need to be entertained, uplifted and to process the struggles they’re going through, we are experts at bringing people together and that’s exactly what we’ll do."
