Announcing the cast of Abigail’s Party

Mike Leigh’s modern classic comes to Stratford East from 06 September, as our Artistic Director, Nadia Fall, directs the tragicomic portrait of a soirée from hell. We’re delighted to announce the cast and creative team for this new production, and you can discover more here.

Her husband, Laurence, will be played by Kevin Bishop (Inside No.9), and their married guests, Tony and Angela, will be played by Omar Malik (Call the Midwife) and Ashna Rabheru (Sex Education). Pandora Colin (I Give It A Year) plays their reluctant guest and next door neighbour, Sue.

The creative team will be completed by Peter McKintosh (Set & Costume Designer), Howard Harrison (Lighting Designer), Alexandra Faye Braithwaite (Sound Designer), James Cousins (Movement Director), Amy Ball CDG (Casting Director), Lily Dyble (Assistant Director), Mary Charlton (Costume Supervisor), Lizzie Frankl (Props Supervisor) and Edie Fitt-Martin (Propworks London).

About the show

Beverly is hosting, the alcohol is flowing, Demis Roussos is on the record player and the cheese and pineapple cocktail sticks are ready to go. Queen of the castle in her suburban semi, Beverly and husband Laurence welcome new neighbours Angela and Tony round for drinks. Sue from next door is invited too but the real party is happening back at her place, as Sue’s teenage daughter Abigail can’t seem to keep the racket down. Awkward small talk quickly descends into inappropriate flirtation and marital disputes: a soiree from hell but it’d be rude to leave.
